Experience + Discover God Everywhere

 

Vacation Bible School was held during the week of July 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Our evenings began in the Fellowship Hall where each child received a sporty drawstring backpack with 1^st U.M.C. of Passaic written on it, a camouflaged hat, and a compass.  From there, the children trekked to the upper parking lot where that evening’s story was played out:

 

Monday:  The Trek to the Promised Land took us to the Jordan River where the sea parted and the Ark carrying the Ten Commandments was carried across.

 

Tuesday:  The Trek to Bethlehem left us following the Star where we were met by the angry King Herod and continued on to seek out the Baby Jesus.

 

Wednesday:  The Trek to the Pharisee’s House took us to a dinner party where Jesus taught an important lesson on being humble.

 

Thursday:  The Trek to the Upper Room gave us a look at Jesus’ discussions with his Disciples.

 

Friday:  The Trek to Galilee brought us to Jesus high on the hill after his resurrection.

 

After each lesson, dinner was met with gratitude.  On Monday we kicked off with Pizza and then we alternated from there with McDonald’s.  Each evening we all joined in an activity.  Of course, water balloons were a hit and our human bobsled races were a blast.  Time was always left for crafts.  Bug magnets, decorating wooden boxes, and personal scrap books were made. 

 

On the last night we made a camp fire for roasting marshmallows for our delicious s’mores.
